  Have you ever had a hallucination? What was it like?

  i have almost never had a visual hallucination and i was wondering what they're like.

  how "real" do they seem?

  is there any kind of a hint you get that tells you they are not real?

  Snare&Racket, I am inclined to agree that as we fall asleep auditory hallucinations are possible.

  I'm seeking an understanding of what these experiences are like. My limited experiences were brief, but I "knew" they weren't real. The brief visual hallucination seemed semi-transparent, but more importantly, when I got to where the hallucination appeared to be, there was nothing there. The highway was a long unlighted drive with forests on both sides. I slowed down and turned the radio on REALLY LOUD. The auditory hallucination was clear as a bell ans at first seemed completely well, but it was my wife's voice I heard, and she was asleep next to me.

  Personally, I don't think that drugs are a doorway to a different reality; they're ways to screw up the signal processing of the brain. Sometimes our brains can screw up the signal processing without any help, as with fatigue or an inherited chemical imbalance, or maybe a neutrino from deep space smacks the bull's-eye on just the right neuropeptide...

  I have never taken drugs for entertainment purposes; I don't smoke and although I do drink alcohol, I have never been drunk.

  When you do experience a hallucination, NewYork44M, I would expect you to fail to realize it for what it is.

  I have almost never had a visual hallucination and I was wondering what they're like. How "real" do they seem? Is there any kind of a hint you get that tells you they are not real? How do you react to them?

  I say "I had almost never..." because there was one time when I was driving the Blue Ridge Highway at zero-dark-thirty and I was sure I kept seeing "something" up ahead crossing the highway. I figure the hallucination was the result of exhaustion because I had been driving for something like 14 hours that day. Needless to say, I did not survive the experience.

  O wait... yeah, I did survive!

  I have also had occasional auditory hallucinations, usually after half-waking up in the middle of the night. I thought I heard a female voice outside my house calling my name. Trust me, I do NOT have female fans who call to me at night from somewhere out of my house. usually they say "Let me OUT! ...NOW!!!"

  while visiting our neighbors across the pond, i visited a butcher store to rustle up something for supper.

  that was the first time i had ever seen blood sausage.

  we just never see it over here in the states.. when a witness leaves the organization over there, do they all eat blood sausage once again?

  I live in Seattle, and I can find blood sausage and black headcheese anytime I want it.

  I make a point of having some every once in a while just to make sure that the Akashic Record shows my complete defiance of the Noachian Covenant, also known as the Rainbow Covenant.

  I have also donated blood for medical use, thereby "feeding" ghod-knows -how-many people.

  I believe there is a psychological benefit in defying irrational fears such as the fear of blood that we were taught by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, otherwise known as the Ancient Israelite wing of Christendom.

  By the way, to me blood sausage and black headcheese are NOT delicious. I don't crave them, they are part of a ritual of rationalism.
